NEW PR ON DEADLIFTS
Hit a new personal record today and I’m still riding the high. Three plates on each side. Months of grinding for one rep that lasted maybe four seconds. Worth it.
The gym was quiet — that sweet spot around 2pm on a Wednesday when nobody’s there. My playlist was dialed in (heavy instrumentals, no lyrics, the kind of stuff that makes you feel like a final boss). Set up the bar, chalked up, and just went for it.
The first pull felt heavy. Obviously. But somewhere around knee height, something clicked and the bar just kept moving. Locked out at the top, held it for a second longer than I needed to. You know that feeling when your body surprises your brain? That.
Celebrated with a protein smoothie the size of my head and a solid 20 minutes of just sitting in my car in the parking lot, staring at the ceiling, feeling good about life. Sometimes consistency really does pay off. Not always. But today it did.
Next target: four plates. Might take me another six months. That’s fine.
